Building strong foundations for children aged 4–7, giving them the confidence and skills to start school ready to thrive.
Our Early Years & School Readiness provides explicit teaching of the essential skills children need before starting school. By focusing on readiness rather than later intervention, we help children step into their first classroom with the foundational skills required to read and write successfully.

Not all children begin school with the skills they need to learn to read, write, and spell successfully. Too often, difficulties are only noticed years later, making it harder for children to catch up. The Early Years & School Readiness Program is designed to prevent this by developing foundational skills early, giving every child the best possible start to their education.
Children aged 4–7 can enrol in the Early Years & School Readiness Program, which runs in small groups of three to five students. Sessions are interactive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate, ensuring children build both the skills and confidence needed for formal schooling.
During each 90-minute session (including a short break), your child will take part in carefully structured activities that support memory, language, and literacy development. These activities target the key skills that underpin reading, writing, and spelling success.
Children will participate in oral language development, phonological awareness, pre-writing practice, and comprehension activities. All tasks are designed to be fun, interactive, and evidence-based, helping your child practise the very skills they will rely on when they begin school.
- Conversational skills and social interaction (pragmatics)
- Sound articulation and word formation
- Exposure to new and advanced vocabulary through stories and texts
- Recognising and manipulating sounds in words (syllables, rhymes, beginning sounds)
- Identifying beginning, middle, and end sounds in words
- Phoneme awareness activities for 6–7 year olds
15 minutes – Pencil Grip and Pre-Writing Skills
- Correct pencil grip and fine motor development
- Basic handwriting skills (tracing, drawing shapes, circles, lines)
- Listening to teacher read-alouds (stories and information texts)
- Vocabulary development (Tier 2 and Tier 3 words)
- Oral comprehension and discussion
All activities in the Early Years & School Readiness Program follow a clear structure that mirrors classroom routines, helping children learn how to listen, participate, and follow instructions. This not only develops essential literacy skills but also prepares them socially and emotionally for the school environment.
